Kisan Credit Card (KCC)

The Kisan Credit Card gives a farmer a running credit limit from a bank for the costs of a season — seed, fertiliser, labour, diesel — instead of forcing a fresh loan application every year. You draw what you need and repay after the harvest. Under the Modified Interest Subvention Scheme, short-term crop loans carry 7% interest, and a farmer who repays on time gets a further 3% back, bringing the effective rate to about 4% — which is what makes a KCC far cheaper than borrowing privately. The Union Budget 2025-26 raised the loan limit covered by this subsidised rate from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh. The card also covers allied activities such as dairy, poultry and fisheries, and can be applied for at any commercial bank, regional rural bank or cooperative bank.

केंद्र सरकार

Interest Subvention on Short-Term Crop Loans (MISS)

This is not a loan you apply for separately — it is the government paying part of the interest on your short-term crop loan so that you pay less. The scheme sets the rate at 7% a year, and a farmer who repays on schedule earns a further 3% back, so the effective cost falls to around 4%. That 3% is the part worth protecting: it is lost entirely if repayment is late, even by a little. Since the Union Budget 2025-26 the subsidised rate covers loans up to ₹5 lakh, raised from ₹3 lakh. Rates and ceilings are revised by government from time to time, so confirm the current figures with your bank.

आपको क्या मिलता है

Short-term crop credit at 7% a year, falling to roughly 4% when repayment is on time, on loans up to ₹5 lakh.

कौन आवेदन कर सकता है

  • Farmers holding a Kisan Credit Card or a short-term crop loan from a scheduled bank, RRB or cooperative bank
  • The 3% prompt repayment incentive applies only if the loan is repaid within the period set by the bank
  • Applies to short-term crop loans up to the ceiling notified under the scheme

आवेदन कैसे करें

No separate application. The subvention is applied by your lending bank to an eligible crop loan account. Ask your branch to confirm your loan is booked under the scheme.

आमतौर पर माँगे जाने वाले दस्तावेज़
  • An existing KCC or short-term crop loan account
