Krishi Saathi is an educational website for farmers. We explain government schemes in plain language, summarise agricultural research, and teach the business side of farming — costs, pricing, selling and organising. Everything on the site is free to read and there is nothing to sign up for.

No. We are a private educational platform and we have no government authority. We explain schemes and link you to the official government portal, but every application, approval and payment happens on the government's own site, not here.

No. Reading the site is free, there is no membership, and we do not sell anything. We also do not ask you to register or to give us your phone number to read anything.

Please tell us on WhatsApp using the contact details at the bottom of the page, and say which page it is on. We correct errors and update the 'last checked' date. We would much rather be told than leave a wrong scheme detail up.

When your question matches one in our verified FAQ bank, you get an answer a person wrote and checked. When it does not match, an AI model generates the answer — and AI models make mistakes, including confident ones. Every AI answer is labelled as such. For anything involving money, eligibility or a deadline, verify it on the official government portal before acting.

Yes — Hindi is being prepared and will be added after launch. The assistant already replies in whatever language you write your question in, so you can ask it in Hindi today even though the pages are in English.

No. We do not process applications and we do not submit anything for anyone. Every scheme page links to the official government portal where the application is made. If anyone claims to apply for a scheme on your behalf for a fee using our name, they are not associated with us.

Right now we cover Chhattisgarh state schemes and central government schemes that apply across India. We plan to add other states over time. We would rather cover one state properly than list every state badly.

Every scheme card shows the date it was last checked by our team. Government schemes change — rates are revised, windows open and close, and schemes are renamed or replaced. Always confirm the current details on the official portal before you apply or spend money. That is why every card links out to the official source.

The most common reasons are an incomplete e-KYC, an Aadhaar number that is not seeded with your bank account, or a mismatch in the land or name records. You can check your beneficiary status and e-KYC status yourself on the PM-KISAN portal, and your Common Service Centre or village agriculture official can help you correct the record. We cannot check or fix your status for you.

That depends on your risk, your crop and your ability to absorb a total loss, and it is your decision to make. What we can tell you factually is how the scheme works: under PMFBY the farmer pays only a capped share of the premium, enrolment has a firm cut-off date each season, and claims are assessed at the level of a notified insurance unit rather than your individual field. We have no login, no registration and no contact form, so we do not collect names, phone numbers or land details. We use Google Analytics to count how many people visit which pages, which sets a cookie in your browser. What you type into the assistant is sent to an AI service to generate an answer — so please do not type Aadhaar numbers, bank details or anything else private into it.

We cannot answer that, and you should be careful of anyone who answers it confidently without knowing your soil, water, land and local market. What we can do is explain how to make the decision: get a soil test, know your cost per quintal, check what buyers near you actually want, and read the research section on crop duration and diversification. For advice specific to your field, your district Krishi Vigyan Kendra is the right place — it is free and the staff are agricultural scientists working in your own district.

Through the government's Soil Health Card scheme, which provides testing free of cost. Contact your block or district agriculture officer, or your nearest Krishi Vigyan Kendra, to have your field included in the sampling cycle. We do not test soil and we do not produce soil reports — we only explain what the results mean and why the test is worth arranging.

A Farmer Producer Organisation is a company owned by its farmer members. It buys inputs in bulk more cheaply and sells members' produce as one large lot, which gets a better price than any small farmer can negotiate alone. It works when members actually sell through it and the governance is sound; it fails when it is formed only to collect a grant. The Farming as a Business section explains it in more detail.
