Per Drop More Crop (PMKSY micro-irrigation)
This component of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana subsidises drip and sprinkler systems. Micro-irrigation delivers water to the root instead of flooding the field, which cuts water use sharply and — because fertiliser can be delivered through the same lines — usually cuts fertiliser use too. Assistance is given at a higher rate for small and marginal farmers. The scheme also supports secondary storage and water-conveyance work that makes an existing source go further. It is administered by the state, so the approved vendor list and the current rate of assistance are set at state level.
